概要：母の介護のために改築した自宅「佐喜浜の母舎」、自宅裏倉庫を改修したデイサービス「むえんの舎」、自宅横元店舗を改修し、コミュニティ施設を経て障害者相談支援の場となった「しえんの舎」。三つが互いに連結し交わって機能する「佐喜浜の箱舟」は、障害がある人でも地域で働き、普通に暮らせることを目指し、これからも生長する。

Sakihama Town is a remote harbor town in Muroto City . In 1998, I renovated my house (Haha-ya) to provide home care for my mother, and I realized the importance of care facilities. I got my caregiver certificate and remodeled other buildings on our land to create an interdependent cluster we call the Ark of Sakihama. First our old storehouse became a day service center, Muen-no-ya. Then our old shop building became a community center, Shien-no-ya; we began support for the disabled there this year. The complex helps make the town a community where people with disabilities can live and work.

グッドデザイン賞審査委員による評価コメント：地域とともにあって共有の記憶を繋げる場づくりの理念と、それを具体化したデザイナーの力がともに評価された。建築と事業が連携し合い時間をかけて少しずつ広がっていることが見事。丁寧に改修された民家群は、街になじみ日常生活をしっかりホールドする心地よい空間となっている。
