"Authentic
Japanese Women"
This
isn't a title I would have ever written but for the irritation
engendered by the West's endless fascination with Kimonos.
Kimonos look nice enough, but women hardly ever wear them due to
expense and lack of practicality compared to more modern
clothing.
In any event, what people in any country decide to wear is their
choice, and the choice to not make daily use of the Japanese kimono
in Japan is something the locals made many decades ago, and so I want
to say to editors in the West: "Hey you! Come joint
the 20th century, never mind the 21st... once you reach the 20th,
it's only a short step to the 21st. You guys are in some weird
pre-20th century non-existent time frame with your fixation on
kimonos."
Phew! I've been
wanting to say that for some time, so it's nice to see it up there on
the screen!
This
picture, by the way, is of a coffee/souvenir shop at Mt. Takao, not
far from the mountaintop side of the cable-car and chair lift.
