"Meiji
Wedding"
Meiji
Shrine is a popular place for traditional Japanese weddings, but the
tradition of dressing up like this is nearly as unique to the locals of
this corner of the world as it is to those of you living
overseas! It does look like fun though, and I think I'd actually
enjoy trying on 18th century western clothing, so I can understand
somewhat how it must feel I think. What is culture
actually? What parts of it and it's manifestations should be
(must be?) preserved, and what parts forgotten? This question is
as pertinent to the current generation of J-people in their 20's as it
is to people in their 20's anywhere on the globe where peace allows the
luxury of pondering such things....
