Ah,
but this is an endless subject for non-locals! "What hath
become of the Japan of old?" we cry while looking in vain for
kimono-clad woman small-stepping down the street. And I find
those things interesting myself, but when you say "Tokyo",
the image that comes to mind is basically like this photo... which is
fine. See? There's the young woman on the next
platform... doing... something, and looking good to my male eyes, and
to the right is the city-man in a white coat wondering what the
foreigner is taking a photo of... and the purple night air in the
background suggests adventure. Yes... this is Tokyo! The
costumes were not the issue in any case - not before, not now, not
ever.
