Unapproved GM papaya confirmed in Okinawa yet again

The comingling by unapproved GM papaya of frozen food imported from China having been confirmed, MHLW announced on 20 November 2014 that it had taken the step of ordering the backloading of the whole shipment. The confirmation was arrived at through testing carried out by the Naha Quarantine Station, which found that Taiwanese GM papaya was included in the shipment.






Crossbreeding not confirmed by MAFF GM rapeseed volunteer survey

MAFF published the results of the FY2013 GM plant volunteer survey on 21 November 2014. The survey, limited to the surroundings of 12 importing ports, confirmed the presence of volunteer GM plants, but did not confirm crossbreeding.
