I'm a
Japanese boy with a sophisticated donkey's ear
who is
interested in English language, especially its pronunciation
variety. This website's aim is to introduce my invention of "Sound-based Spelling Dictionary" to the children, teachers, students and so on who are related to American spoken English. It's a Freeware for non-commercial purpose, and I'd like to distribute it to many people over the world. This original dict. is a public CMU (Carnegie Mellon University) Pronouncing Dictionary containing over 125,000 words. <<I thank/appreciate CMU.>> Features: 1. Sound<=>Spelling dictionary. 2. It's made by HTML file. (about 5MB) Therefore, you can use the standard search function of the web browser. 3. I don't distinguish the similar sound on purpose. 4. The word is listed by its sound (length order & alphabetically). So, the file itself is a Glossary (i.e. has 3 tier structure : asifsound[=abstract pronunciation] >spelling >pronunciation). 5. Summing up, This is a grouping technique. [AsifSound definition] ----Using only ; A,B,D,F,G,H,K,L,N,P,S,T (12 symbols) A={ x ; x= vowels ,W , Y or all previous combination }, B={ b, v}, D={ d, dg(as bridge), th(as the), z, dz, su(as leisure)}, F={ f}, G={ g}, H={ h}, K={ k}, L={ l, r}, N={ m, n, ng (, nk)}, P={ p}, S={ s, sh, th}, T={ ch, t, th (, ts)} (,W={ w}, Y={ j}) |

Application: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Find out your own word sequence corresponding to the number pi (3.1415926535..) like as below. "Let's have a white Christmas in Hawaii ( Japan Air lines )" [Here, Hawaii is my humor, Canada/Alaska is OK, of course] |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tip : In
Japan, the most common dictionary's input are phonetic symbols. That
symbol is said "KANA", we use it as a letter of usual writing. We also use the old Chinese style letter "KANJI". In a nutshell, our language culture has multi-letters. ( In KANJI expression, KA= virtual, NA= name, KAN= Chinese old one nation, JI= letter. And KANA has 2 styles, one was for men, the other was for women. ) Long long ago, China and Korea were big our teachers, and even now. |
