Appreciation of Nature

Part-27 ( Ed. July-18,1998 )

Let me show you the lotus pond in the Japanese garden, in the Expo'70-site park, Osaka. Lotus flowers blooming very early in the morning, the garden opens far earlier in the morning than usual.

Under cover

Whirligigs walk on the water as they like. And a moorhen and her chick hid themselves under the lotus leaves.

Guess what?

Guess what shape of the pistil! It forms a yellow shower-head surounded by yellow stamens. Quite a few people bring their cameras, zoom lenses, tripods, as you see in the back.

The other world

It has been said the person who reaches the Buddhist paradise (after one's death) gets a seat of the blooming lotus. A pair of binoculars would show you what the seat is like.
