The Cable Car at Mt.Myoken

Mt.Myoken(a height of 660m)is so familiar among people who love hiking, picnicking, barbequing and who pay frequent visit to the Myoken shrine on the top. In Toyonocho, our town, we have a hiking group called "Myoken Hike". The members climb the mountain once a month trying each route one by one. You see they sell local products like chestnut, persimmons and green vegitables just before the cable station.

An Entrance path to Myoken Shrine

This narrow route is called "Shintakido", which will lead you to the top in about 2 hours. The gate is called "Torii", meaning the entrance to the Shrine. It is located about 100m before the cable station.

Fragrance

How sweet it is! If you're going to visit Japan, I would suggest you never miss this special season. From the end of September the magic continues for two weeks. The whole town is flooded with sooooo sweet a fragrance of "Kinnmokusei."
