・would は、will の〔過去形〕である。

「私たちは、駅で10時半に、あなた（たち）と会うつもりです」

(b) They said they would meet us at 10.30 at the station.
「彼らは、駅で10時半に、私たちと会うつもりだと言った」
「彼らは、私たちを、10時半に駅まで迎えに来てくれると言った」

主節の〔動詞〕know が〔過去形〕の knew に合わせて、that節中の〔動詞〕
〔助動詞〕が〔過去形〕になることを、〔時制の一致〕という。
know → knew, will → would。

(a) employ「雇用する」→ employee「従業員」「労働者」
「他者のために働き賃金を得る者」が employee で、「公務員」もこれに入
る。
employee に対して、「雇用する側の人物や企業」は employer。「雇用主」。
employment は、「雇用」「雇用量」。

「それらのトイレは、従業員専用です」

(b) train「訓練する」「教育する」→trainee「訓練生」「実習生」
「職業研修や訓練を受ける者」が trainee.
trainer は「職業訓練をする人」に加え、「スポーツ訓練をする人」「動物
を調教する人」も指す。これは日本語にも入っている。
training は「訓練」。これも日本語になっている。
(B) She was taken on as a trainee.「彼女は見習いとして雇われた」
