"Momotaro"  (A chant for a group performance)

Narrator: Once upon a time in a small village,
       there lived an old man and an old woman.
Chorus: An old man and an old woman.

Narrator: Every day the old man went to the mountain to cut some wood.
       Every day the old woman went to the river to wash clothes.

: I go to the mountain every day.
Chorus: He goes to the mountain every day.
: I go to the river every day.
Chorus: She goes to the river every day.

Narrator: One day the old woman saw a big peach in the river.
: What a big peach!
: What a big peach!
: I want to eat the peach.
: I want to eat the peach.
: Let's cut the peach.  (Momotaro is born.)

: Hi!
and: Hello! What's your name
?
: I'm Momotaro.

Narrator: Momotaro eats a lot of food. Momotaro is very strong.
Chorus: Momotaro eats a lot of food. Momotaro is very strong.
: I want to fight the demon.
The chorus: He wants to fight the demon.
: Good-bye! See you!
: Here you are, Momotaro. This is your food.

: Hello, Momotaro. Give me some food, and I'll go with you.
: Here you are.
: Thank you.

Narrator: This is Onigashima. (Sound of scary and gongs)
: What's your name?
: I'm Momotaro.
: I'm the Dog.
: I'm the Monkey.
: I'm the Bird.
: Let's fight!
: Let's fight! I'm strong.

(hideous noise of the battle as the paper characters fight!)
: I'm very, very, very, very, very, very sorry.
Chorus: He's very, very, very, very, very, very sorry.
