Changes in mean daily air temperatures from 1 January 1995 through 31 December 1997, recorded at an adjacent location of the study area (Kushiro Marsh, Japan), ranging between -14.6 C and 21.2 C. The number of daily readings is six (every 4 h). Mean daily air temperatures are less than 0 C during most of the winter months (November-March), and more than 0 C during most of the breeding seasons (April-May). It is foggy almost every daytime and night from April through August, thereby inducing low temperatures throughout.
