Open Field for Breeding

An open field, including two oviposition sites (pool and drainage canal) of the salamander Hynobius hidamontanus, inhabiting Hokujo, Hakuba-mura, Nagano Prefecture, Japan (photographed on 2 May 2006). This open field was surrounded far away with a stand of conifers (Cryptomeria japonica), abandoned tennis coats (upper range of this photo), an iron tower for electricity installation, and some paddy and vegetable fields.
