Traffic circumstances in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia (photographed at 1040 h on 7 January 2005).

(A) A trolley bus, running through a main street. Note trolley wires webbed widely.

(B) Enkh Taivan Orgon Choloo (English expression of Mongolian) = Peace Street. A yellow car is a taxicab, permitted formally.

In Ulaanbaatar, no car stops when turning right or left a street corner even if someone goes across a pedestrian crossing. So, pedestrians must go during the vacancy of cars' movements. This frequently results in a pedestrians' standstill within the crossing after traffic lights change into a red signal. Moreover, we can see a pedestrians' standstill in a centerline during heavy traffic on a street without traffic lights where they are waiting for a chance to go across the street.
