Just after his death, you find Claudius facing God for the Last
Judgment. He is at a certain place, where is rather close to Heaven.
So he can look at back on his life from higher view point, and with
calmness.
"I can't believe this! Why can I realize it so clearly ? How
free I am from all those troubles,struggles, worries, fears and scares
I had on earth!"
God asked,
"Looks like you are ready now. Tell me why you murdered your brother?"
"My parents, former king and queen were both a good father and
mother, who both loved their children so much - just as any happy par-
ents do. But with our family 'the throne' was the problem. They always
gave my brother Hamlet priority of anything, and higher evaluation,too,
only because he was 'the successor of the throne'. As I grew older I
felt like the throne itself is the true love of my parents. I know I
should not have killed my brother, but my stress had swollen so much
that I lost myself. I must have become crazy, I am afraid. Human has
frailty, you know."
"I know. Please continue."
"And if my brother Hamlet and my parents had been thoughtful e-
nough to consider my cooperation with my elder brother's ascending the
throne and his reign, I might not have killed him."
"May I confess another thing?"
"You may."
"It's about Gertrude. She is as old as I am. I remember vividly
the first time we met at the Palace Ball when the two of us realized
we shared so much and kind of hit it out. I mean we got attracted by
each other. But with political reasons, she was forced to marry my
brother Hamlet, and she was such a wise person that she played the role
of a perfect queen. Not knowing that I poisoned my brother Hamlet, at
the time of my marriage proposal, she resolved to live for her true
self. Politics no longer affected her decision of her life cause. In
her youth she could not have any other choice. Now the two of us fi-
nally won what we had sought. I had her love. And she had her freedom.
God spoke,
"I will make allowances that you both endured great sorrow
throughout most of your lives. And, it is I who created you and the
way you behaved. I enjoyed watching you humans from here. Thank you so
much. It has been one of the greatest shows.
Well, I hereby declare that you may spend your time in Heaven.
That is until I call you again to be reincarnated as another role on
earth."
