PIT-tags
An example of an injector of passive integrated transponder (PIT)-tags (ISO 11784) and a tag-reader, exhibiting "Country: JPN" and "Code: 392141000016737" (photographed on 29 December 2005 for one of my two presentations in a symposium of Darhadyn Wetland, held from 5-6 January 2006 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia). The injector of PIT-tags with a commercial name of "ID-el Easy Implanter," as well as the tag-reader with that of "Mini Max," was manufactured by DATAMARS (RF-Identification Technology) in Switzerland. In Japan, these tools were imported by Fujihira Industry Co. (Tokyo).
We can detect marked salamanders by reading an intraperitoneal PIT-tag with a tag-reader. Every reader can read PIT-tags standardized by ISO semi-eternally, if individuals injected with the PIT-tags are alive.
