Siberian Salamander (Male Salamandrella keyserlingii)

Male Siberian Salamander
An adult male of the salamander Salamandrella keyserlingii, discovered under a decaying log (length = 3.0 m, diameter = 0.4 m) on land in a forest (Larix sp.) zone along the Khodon River, located at the northeastern area of Darhadyn Wetland, Mongolia (photographed at 2028 h on 20 August 2005; 1566 m elevation). A beautiful, golden stripe of the dorsal region of this male was discernible in this photograph, which was one of my favorite shots. Its black and white version corresponded to part of Fig. 2C (page 57) of Hasumi et al. (2007).
