Vasa Deferentia Fluctuation 1

September Vasa
October Vasa

Seasonal changes in the histological condition of the vasa deferentia in Hynobius nigrescens (azan stain; Hasumi et al., 1990); e = epithelium, md = Muellerian duct. Scale = 100 micrometer.

(A) The vasa of males during September. The epithelial cells proliferate, and the epithelia begin to form the mucosal folds. The left circle structure, having many nuclei stained red, is a Muellerian duct.

(B) The vasa of males during October. The epithelial cytoplasm suddenly shows a vivid blue.

*Note the absence of spermatozoa within the lumina of the vasa.
