Overwintering locations (830-860 m elevation) of the salamander Hynobius kimurae inhabiting Hokujo, Hakuba-mura, Nagano Prefecture, Japan.

(A) A landscape of the lowermost and the left bank of a torrent (photographed on 11 November 2006). A juvenile of this species was found under a decaying log on the right bank.

(B) A landscape of the uppermost (including the right and left banks) of the torrent (photographed on 11 November 2006).

(C) A landscape of the lowermost of the torrent, two days after the A (photographed on 13 November 2006). The right and left banks of the torrent was covered partially with snow.
