Saint Ryuukei Shonin founded the temple in 1603. The temple belong to Shinshuu Honganji sect. (Nishi-Honganji Temple in Kyoto). The main hall of the Buddhist temple faces east and Amitabha Buddha is enshrined as a principal image of Buddha in the main hall.
of the building
Due to the site location, the front gate is placed in the north side and the rear gate in the south side. Living quarters called Kuri, Drum tower, and a tenement house surround the site crowdedly. Though the most part of Kuri has been newly built recently, the remaining buildings have been kept as used to be in early modern times.
In addition, the main hall of the Myoukeiji Buddhist temple is quite similar to Koushouji Betsuin Buddhist Temple next door in scale and layout. The temple is found to be rebuilt in 1720 by the documents of the temple.
