A monitor tour began after a meeting in front of the south exit of Tondabayashi
Station on Kintetsu Nagano Line at 10:30 a.m. At first the toup group took
a 7-minute walk from the station to Jinaimachi Visitor center and I had lectured about the history and the townscape in the meeting
room on the second floor. After the lecture, the guided town-watching tour
started in two groups. Walking along the main street, Jyounomonsuji, where merchants’ residences of the Edo era remain in a line, they visited
Koushouji Betsuin Buddhist temple, an important cultural property of the country, which played a key role
of the development of the Tondabayashi Jinaimachi and entered the main
hall building, seeing the painting on partitions. In the afternoon, as for the attractions of the lunch, they enjoyed the Jinaimachi Gozen which was reproduced in reference to the menu of the merchant's family meals in the Edo era written down in the diary of the old Nakamura family in Jinaimachi, in the former residence of the Tanaka family which was designated as a registered cultural assets of the country. For this monitor tour, the Jinaimachi Gozen was specially cooked and arranged, the detailed menu of which is the following. Pumpkin with black rind boiled in soy sauce with sugar, eggplant boiled in country style, carrot boiled with plum, gumbo, round taro, wheat gluten with red maple leaf, |

After the lunch, the tour group went to the Japanese sake tasting at the
old sake storehouse remaining in Jinaimachi historic district. The storehouse
used to be a sake brewery of Banri-no-Haru brand, the residence of the Ishida family, where sake brewery had been long run until around 1980. Though the local
brand brewery of Banri-no-Haru, to our regret, has been already discontinued,
the Japanese sake tasting event was held, gathering various local brands
of Japanese sake from Kansai region selected by a Japanese sake sommelier.
On the day, as many as 15 kinds of sake from 8 sake breweries in Kansai
region were lined-up. Amano sake (Saijo joint-stock company, Kawachi-Nagano city, Osaka pref.), Katano sakura (Yamano sake brewery, Katano city, Osaka pref.), Akishika (Akishika sake brewery, Nose-cho, Osaka pref.), Takeizumi (Tajima unlimited partnership company, Tajima, Santou-cho, Asaki city, Hyogo pref.), Yamato Kozuchi (Izawa head family unlimited partnership company, Inami-cho, Kako-gun, Hyogo pref. ), Kimoto-no-Dobu Suiryu (Kubo head family sake brewery, Uda-cho, Oo-Uda-gun, Nara pref.), Kyo-no-Haru (Mukai sake brewery, Ine-cho, Yosa-gun, Kyoto pref.) , Sichi-hon-yari (Tomita sake brewery, Kinomoto-cho, Nagahama city, Shiga pref.) |

The emblem design expresses "the atemage-no-tsuji, the crossroads
at the non-right angles" in a motif, which is a townscape scene in
Tondabayashi Jinaimachi. |

In the sake brewery where a former fermentation tank remains as relics,
various dishes with the colorful local vegetables from Minami-Kawachi region
were served. In addition, the common logo mark to put on the products sold
in the shops of Tondabayashi Jinaimachi has been introduced for the first
time on this occasion. The design work of the logo mark was done by Mr.
Hiroki Akazaki living in Tondabayashi city. The monitor tour was disassembled at the sake tasting place of the former Banri-no-Haru sake brewery. I thank every tour participant for paying a visit to Tondabayashi Jinaimachi. If you have an opportunity, please visit again. As for people concerned who made an effort to plan this monitor tour and sake tasting, I also give thanks. Written on November 29, 2014 by Author in Yokohama |

Koushouji Betsuin Temple (Tondabayashi Gobo)
Koushouji Betsuin Temple is a temple of Jodo Shinshu School (Ikkoushuu School),
which became the center of the development and establishment of Jinaimachi
town in Tondabayashi . It has been popular as Mr. Gobo (Tondabayashi Gobo)
among the local residents.
During the Ouei period (1394-1412years) , the
The temple gate looks toward the east and the Jyounomon-suji street. Those buildings such as the bell tower, the drum tower, the main hall,
the reception hall and priest's quarters are set up and arranged.
The main gate has refined style and it became clear in a recent investigation
that the gate was further relocated from Koushouji temple in Kyoto, which
was originally said to be dismantled and reconstructed from one of the
gates at Fushimi castle in Kyoto.
Koushouji Betsuin Temple was designated as an important cultural property
of the country in 2014.
