|About one and half years have passed since I started translation of the
main Japanese contents of the website to English.
The translation works have been carried out solely by myself in sparing the weekend time, based on such a wide variety of contents in Japanese as the history, the traditional buildings of temples and merchants’ houses, the architecture of the old family, the information of the shop and travelogues by author on Jinaimachi, Tondabayashi. Though every Japanese page was not translated into English, I could finish translating most of the contents related to tourism and sightseeing for foreign visitors to Japan.
By the way, under the new policy of the country aiming at the nation of tourism, it is anticipated that the number of foreign visitors continues to increase in the near future by deregulations for increase of foreign travelers and expectation on economic expansion. The busy shopping streets such as Midou-suji and Ebisubashi-suji in downtown Osaka are always crowded with foreign visitors day and night. There have been yet few foreign visitors to visit here, however I do hope foreigners are able to take a look at the translated contents in English and to recognize the tourists attractions on Jinaimachi and then more foreign travelers might drop in at Jinaimachi when they have an opportunity to visit Kansai region in Japan. Since it is nearly located from Osaka, Kobe, Nara, Kyoto, Kouya-san in Wakayama prefecture and Kansai international airport, you can easily take a day trip here.
Jinaimachi in Tondabayashi has not been well-known so far even in Japan and foreign countries as tourists’ information has not enough spread out before, particularly for foreign travelers. My translated contents can provide the information with foreign people all over the world through the Internet and let them know the tourists’ attractions of the historic district and heritage site just as they are. I also hope the activity may contribute to redevelopment of the local community.
On the other hand, it is a challenge to prepare the system to receive foreign visitors here. As a government-licensed tour interpreter, I planned and held a walking guided tour in English several times for the past few years. I will hold the next guided tours on May 4-6, 2016. I am most welcome to more foreigner visitors participating in the guided tour on this opportunity.
