The 10th anniversary event of Jinaimachi Hina Dolls Festival was celebrated.

Jinaimachi Hina Dolls Festival has became the annual spring event in the town of Tondabayashi Jinaimachi. It was held on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13, 2016 for two days around the center of Jyounomonsuji street and its neighborhood. The variety of hina dolls, large and small, were colorfully decorated and displayed in front of the merchant residences as well as placed even on the spotlights along Jyounomonsuji street. In addition, here and there in Jinaimachi neighborhood, special events were planned and organized as usual.

Although I had been concerned about the weather, it was blessed with good weather fortunately for two days. It was perfectly clear blue sky on the first day, while cloudy sky from morning, occasinally sunny on the second day. Jinaimachi town is usually found calm and quiet, but a lot of visitors could be seen on the street during the period. Although elderly visitors had been often seen in the past, more younger generations such as young couples as well as those with young children have recently visited Jinaimachi historic district. It might be because more attractive shops have been opened one after another in Jinaimachi town and its neighborhood.

In addition, the special promotion event offered to have you dressed in traditional kimono on the second floor of Jinaimachi Visitor Center and you were able to walk around the Jinaimachi town and neighborhood. Women, children and families who were dressed up in kimono could be seen in many spots. Once found, they were asked to be shot as a model by photographers nearby, and then the line of camera shooting continued for a while.

By the way, after I enjoyed walking around the town slowly in the morning, I dropped in at the residence of the Nakamura family for lunch, the inside of which were specally opened to the public for the two days. The building has been registered as cultural property of Osaka prefecture since 1990.

The special luncheon box called Jinaimachi Hina Meguri Gozen was specially prepared for the promotion by Asahi-ya local Japanese restaurant. The menu was revived by following the descriptions of an old diary book kepy in in Edo era which was found in the residence of old Nakamura family. The special luncheon event was organized by General incorporated association of Jinaimachi Cultural Trust on March 12, 2016.

The Jinaimachi Gozen was reproduced for the first time in November, 2014 and the tasting party event on this occasion was held at ex.Tanaka family residence. The event promotion turned out to be favorably accepted. The inside of residence of the old Nakamura family is not opened to the public, but it was specailly opened for the promotion for the limited number of participants.

The center of the long wall facing the Tomisuji street was partly opened to let visitors in the house to see the old hina dolls decoration of Edo era at the entrace hall. When I took off shoes and keep going up at the entrace towards the right hand side, a painting and calligraphic work from the Edo era were hung in the tokonoma (alcove). Through a painting and calligraphic work drawn on an ornament and the hanging scroll displayed in the tokonoma, a way of living of the business magnate of the Edo era is remembered. In the three-connected guest rooms facing two Senzai (garden) , there were eight dining tables placed on the tatami mats for lunch. By the way, as many as 24 persons participated in the promotion after advanced booking.

Food event "Gochisou Kura Cafe"
In the aftyernoon, I visited the event "Gochisou Kura Cafe" or feast festival held in the former Japanese sake brewery storehouse of Banri-no-Haru brand, a part of the Ishida family residence, which has been no longer used for brewery. A food workshop of koji or malted rice for condiment was held by a feast producer, Ms. Takako Hirosato who acted as a food adviser of Kansai food for the poplular NHK broadcasting daily drama on air in the every morning produced by the NHK Osaka broadcasting station. A long queue began before the opening in the venue, and the foods which had been prepared beforehand seemed to be sold out immediately. It was full of the participants as all the seats were taken and occupied since they could taste dish and sake in the old sake brewery inside on that day. The tank and ladder for brewing those days were left, too, and the Hina dolls and Japanese sake barrels with Banri-no-Haru brand were displayed in front of the brewering tank, too.

Koushouji Betsuin Temple (Tondabayashi Gobo)

Koushouji Betsuin Temple is a temple of Jodo Shinshu School (Ikkoushuu School), which became the center of the development and establishment of Jinaimachi town in Tondabayashi . It has been popular as Mr. Gobo (Tondabayashi Gobo) among the local residents.

During the Ouei period (1394-1412years) , theincipient temple was opened in Ebitani village. In 1560, Shoushuu Shonin, the 16th head priest of Koushouji Sect. in Kyoto dismantled the building and reconstructedit to the present location, adjacent to Ebitani village.

The temple gate looks toward the east and the Jyounomon-suji street. Those buildings such as the bell tower, the drum tower, the main hall, the reception hall and priest's quarters are set up and arranged.

The main gate has refined style and it became clear in a recent investigation that the gate was further relocated from Koushouji temple in Kyoto, which was originally said to be dismantled and reconstructed from one of the gates at Fushimi castle in Kyoto.

Koushouji Betsuin Temple was designated as an important cultural property of the country in 2014.
